I first began using Tumblr back when I was in high school. I think I started in 9th or 10th grade because that is when I first rededicated my life to Jesus. I had this desire to be connected to other Christians so I decided to follow Christian blogs. After Googling “Christian blogs on Tumblr,” I inspected some of them and followed. During my inspection, I found the blog of a young man who went by the name, “man-of-God.tumblr.com.” I followed him because his blog was really uplifting and he was young like me. It also helped that he’s kind of attractive lol.
So after about two years of following him, he posted his link to his Facebook page so I added him. About a year later, I was praying about what school to go to. I knew that I wanted to go to a school where I could study both Communications and Theology. I could study Communications anywhere but the Theology part was special – it demanded that the school be a Christian institution. For some reason, all of the schools that I saw online were unappealing because they lacked diversity. So I considered studying religion. But then, as I prayed about what school to go to, I happened to be scrolling down my Facebook timeline when I saw a picture of Dan with a Systematic Theology book. Out of curiosity, I went to his page to see what school he went to.
To my surprise, Nyack College was the name of his school. I remember thinking to myself, “what in the world is a Nyack?” I was one of those people who thought NYACK was an acronym for New York something something (New York Academy of Christian Knowledge maybe?) lol. But after looking up Nyack online, and realizing that my oldest brother lived 45 minutes away, I was completely sold! I looked at all the YouTube videos I could find, I looked at the blog, I looked at the Twitter and the Facebook page. I could not wait to start my journey at Nyack.
Three years later, I am preparing to enter into my senior year at Nyack College and it has been the most amazing and challenging seasons of my life. And I would not trade it for the world! Oh by the way, Dan is the big homie now 🙂
