This morning in my prayer time, I prayed a verse from the Bible that I remember my Pastor always offering to me when I was living in Cleveland. It was Galatians 6:9 which says,
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” ESV
After praying, I picked up my devotional and the passage of the day also came from Galatians and so, like anyone would do, I picked up my Bible to read from Galatians 5. However, because of my Divinity School education, I have been finding it quite hard to read Scripture devotionally. Any person who has ever studied Scripture academically can tell you that this is a thing – when you read the Bible like a text book, you have to work twice as hard to read it devotionally.
Nevertheless, with the context of Galatians in mind, I wondered in my mind how in the world am I supposed to apply this text to my life when the context seemed as though it did not apply to me?
Well…here comes GOD to save the day!
After deciding to go and read something from the Gospels instead, I turned on YouTube to watch a sermon by one of my favorite preachers – Pastor Howard John Wesley from Alfred Street Baptist Church. And what was his text from last Sunday?
*insert drum roll here*
This may not seem significant to you. But, this made me realize that God sees me. God saw me in that moment where I was looking for answers and God stepped in.
So, I just wanted to make my little cameo and encourage you, my dear reader, that God sees you. God sees what you think might not even be significant. God is present in the small things that happen in our lives. And if God is loving enough to be present in the small stuff, be encouraged to know that God will not abandon you in the major stuff as well!
Go in peace, today, and remember not to give up because God sees you and will not abandon you!
